Platinum Mall, Bangkok, Thailand

Platinum Mall is a famous whole sale shopping complex in the heart of Bangkok where clothes, accessories and shoes are sold in bulk. And in bulk…we mean 2 or 3 or even 6 pieces depending on the seller. Purchasing items in bulk normally sends the price down by at least 50-100 baht per piece.

If you are worried about ending up with 3 pieces of the same blue striped shirt, then fret not, because you are allowed to mix colours and even designs i.e you may just buy anything in the shop provided they are of the same price.

After shopping for hours, we were all hungry and our feet were aching. We decided to go to the 6th floor which housed the food court. We took the escalator as the lifts were all filled with shoppers (and their huge trolley bags and shopping bags too!).

Wow! So many stalls here…I counted  -28 in total. But first, we had to buy some coupons…which came in the form of a preloaded card. You can choose any amount you want. By the way, any unutilised balance is refundable. Phew!

Here were some of the food we ordered to share:-

Vegetarian noodles – with such a name, we expected to see lots of vegetables in it, but were a little disappointed when this was what we got…taste-wise, well, nothing to shout about.

Next, salmon set . For less than RM10, I would say this is until today still the cheapest bento I’ve ever eaten. I didn’t quite like the sauce used for the salmon as it was rather diluted.

Tom yam noodles – got a big shock when we were handed this bowl of noodles by the stall attendant – way too tiny a portion even for a little kid! But the taste was great, so much so that we ordered another bowl!

Japanese curry bento – for less than RM9 – crispy, fried chicken in fabulous Japanese curry – the one dish that made my day!
