Silom Village Don Muang Airport

Finding good food at the airport has always been a challenge for me personally but Bangkok never fails to surprise me with good food. Silom Village located on the upper level of Don Muang is one such example.

We had ample time before our flight home as we arrived early so as to have more time to walk leisurely around the airport.
Getting a table at Silom Village in the evening wasn’t easy as the number of people at the airport was simply overwhelming. We finally got a table but whilst some of us were browsing through the menu, the others were busy looking at what other people were having so as to gauge what was good there.
From our observations these were what we ordered:-

Once again all the dishes were superb but the seafood kerabu was especially delectable. I love the taste freshly squeezed lime on fresh seafood . And if you notice the yellow flower at the side of the plate…well, that’s carved from mango…how creative!

Fukuya KLIA

Before leaving Malaysia with the knowledge that I’ll be in a foreign land for the next few days, I decided to try the Japanese food at Fukuya. Located on the mezzanine floor, locating Fukuya was easier than I thought.

The place was literally empty as I walked in at 9am. I chose a table near the window, where I got a good view of suitcases being loaded into the aeroplanes.

I ordered the breakfast set A (RM20) – a pot of porridge served in a claypot was what I got along with a cup of coffee and a side dish. The porridge did not look appealing to me but it tasted alright. With some vegetables and eggs, it was indeed a healthy option.

I also had 2 green plates (RM13 each) and I must say that the crab sticks were rather delicious.

Ciao! Gotta run now…I’ve got a plane to board.

Noodles, KLIA

I’ve often walked past this outlet called Noodles whilst waiting for my flight at KLIA but have never tried the food there as I often grab some fast food to satisfy my hunger.

Today, I finally tried Noodles. It is said to serve MSG and boric acid free food…and the aromatic soup is definitely too tempting to resist.

As I walked in, I was at a lost – reason being: there was no indication whether this is a self-service restaurant or otherwise. I enquired and was told to choose a table and wait to be served. I waited and waited……finally someone came and apologetically took my order.

Here was what I ate:-

Wan ton noodles soup – well, at RM18.90 I would say this was quite costly as the portion was not sufficient for me. However, credit must be given where it is due and I must say the soup was very delicious – tasted as good as its aroma!

I also ordered dim sum….and it costs a bomb. RM 9.90 for 3 pieces of ..err…well, normal sized dim sum.

As I had a can of isotonic drink (100 Plus) , my total bill came close to RM40 as the drink alone costs RM6.90. Luckily this place does not impose any service charge!
