Restoran HLK, Taman Danau Desa

This is what my son calls a restaurant without door i.e the main door is always wide opened, welcoming patrons anytime of the day.

We ordered four dishes to go with rice:-

This dish of stir fried broccoli appears innocuously simple and uninteresting , but trust me, it was crunchily yummy.

This is sweet sour pork with cucumber, onion and chillies. The sweet-sour combo never fail to appeal to my taste bud…and had me ordering an extra bowl of rice!

Stir fried fish  with ginger and spring  onion – this was a fantastic dish as the fish fillet were just what I call flavour bombs!

Hot plate tofu – the silky smooth tofu was a stark contrast with the chucky meat and these were topped with a lovely gravy.

Tom’s Dim Sum, Taman Desa

This is an air-conditioned eatery with its doors open. I like the articles and pictures that adorn the walls of the restaurant.

Honey lemon (RM3.50) – this drink truly brought out the sweetness of honey and the sourish taste of lemon – a perfect combination.

We ordered steam pork ribs (RM4.90) – with some black beans and some albeit not too much fat, the ribs were tasty and delicious.

Steam fish ball (RM4.90) – served with some dried beancurd, I found the pairing a little off. Well, I’ll say that there’s nothing spectacular about the fishball either.

Prawn rice roll a.k.a chee cheong fun (RM5) – with its smooth and silky texture this was awesome.

We also tried some other dishes – the claypot tofu was fantastic – smooth tofu with prawns which remained warm and satisfying throughout  the entire meal. I didn’t quite like the butter prawns here as they are spicy-somehow I felt that the combination of butter and chillies just wasn’t right!

Dragon Hut, Taman Desa

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Wow! I’m FINALLY back at Dragon Hut. Yes, I did say FINALLY because the last time I came here was 10 years ago. I remember that it was then my aunt’s big birthday bash! Frankly, the roads leading to Dragon Hut have not been properly maintained and I initially had the funny feeling that the place might already been closed after a decade. But, no, tour buses line the road from the Desa Waterpark all the way leading to Dragon Hut, and that was a good indication that the place was very much alive!

The view from Dragon Hut, overlooking a pond was stunning and refreshing.  I felt a sense of calm and serenity as I looked at the view before me.

Cod fish (RM68) – steamed with ginger and garlic, this dish can never go wrong. Love it!

This is a special seafood dish requested by yours truly –I like the way the dish was presented and the neat arrangement of the different types of ingredients used to make up this delectable dish – sea cucumber, mushrooms , broccoli and tofu….which did, by the way come at a premium – RM140!

This is simply stir fried kai lan with garlic (RM18)

Our last dish was a surprise, at least to me, in terms of pricing. The marmite ribs were rich and delicious…and they only cost RM18.
