Ben’s BSC

At BSC, I am always spoilt for choice where dining is concerned.  Today I decided to check out Ben’s. As I stepped into Ben’s, I notice that there are ample options available. You may choose for normal tables and chairs or table with sofas, or even sit near the entrance where there are some tiny chairs….which, by the way, is not my idea of a comfy seat.

Anyway, I’ll move on to what we ate…or rather drank. We had vanilla milk shake (RM9.90) and berry basil lemonade (RM9.90). I love the luxurious vanilla cream. I slowly slurped this with my straw and I realise that although the milkshake had what I would call a thick consistency, I could slurp it with ease.

Beef Bolognese (RM22.90) – firm textured spaghetti topped with flavourful Bolognese sauce – heavenly!

House salad (RM15.90) – with an interesting combination of vegetables, amongst them lettuce, baby tomatoes cut into halves, avocado and edamame , every mouthful of this salad brought about a new sensation to my palatte. Love it!

Nasi lemak  – although priced  at RM26.90, which is a little expensive to me, the nasi lemak was rich in coconut milk and that certainky made it superbly delicious.

Chicken vegetable soup (RM14.90) – tasty and satisfying – these were the words that immediately came to my mind .

French fries (Rm7.90)

Dome Café , Bangsar Shopping Centre

Dome Café is an outlet you would not miss if you walk in from the main entrance of Bangsar Shopping Complex, more famously known as BSC. It occupies a prominent lot, and is virtually impossible to miss.

I had RM150 voucher thanks to last year’s Mega Sale Carnival and so got 2 buddies to come along for a makan-makan gathering. It was a hot sunny noon and so we decided to forego the Alfresco dining area  -opted to sit inside where there was air-conditioning.

We ordered our drinks – vanilla shake (RM13.50 each) and lemonade berry (RM11.50). I must say that the vanilla shake was excellent, truly on par with the ones I had in London, and I really loved it.

Wild mushroom soup (RM16) – slightly pricey, but then one sip will tell you that the premium paid is justified.

Spicy olio spaghetti (RM23) – it tasted alright but would have been better with more garlic.

Pizza-classic Roman (RM26) –this is said to be made of Dome’s special pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and covered with chicken pastrami and button mushrooms. I like the visual presentation of this pizza very much. I did have a slice and I can say it fits what many like – you know the kind of pizza that makes a stretchy ‘mess’ when you pull the pizza towards yourself.

Big breakfast –beef rasher (RM27) - With toast, 2 eggs, raosted tomatoes, hash brown and some ‘bacon’ , this was, well, as the name suggested BIG enough to feed a big eater like me!

I love the food here and I’ll be back soon.

Little Taiwan , The Sphere Bangsar

Little Taiwan has been around for more than a decade. Its first outlet located within Midvalley Megamall opened its doors in the year 2000. There has been no turning back for Little Taiwan ever since as it began to grow both within and outside the Klang Valley.

Today, I tried the set lunch at the outlet at Bangsar South, more specifically in The Sphere. The place was full of customers as I walked in at half past twelve. I waited patiently for two girls who were obviously deeply engrossed in conversation (I say this because they did not seem to take any notice of me whilst I was standing right beside their table) to vacate their table. Eventually, they left and the hungry me took a quick glance at the menu and decided to have this:-

Supreme chicken set (RM15.90) – this set does not come with any drink – it consisted of a bowl of rice, a bowl of soup, some chicken served in a claypot as well as a long plate with 3 saucers containing some salad with thousand island dressing, a slice of tofu and 2 deep fried wanton.

I would say this set was in itself a complete meal. I love the freshly made salad and the crispy and tasty wanton. I’m  not a huge fan of tofu, so I shan’t comment on it.

What I love most had to be the chicken – it was well marinated and of course very aromatic. The abundance of basil made this dish heavenly. I love it for its strong, pungent  and slightly sweet smell.

Senjyu @ Bangsar Village II

The past few days have been hectic days for me as far as work is concerned. Today I

finally  get some time for a proper lunch and the first thing that comes to my mind is Unagi. I

head to Bangsar Village for an unagi meal at Senjyu.

I arrive at 12.50 and the business seems good. Almost all the tables were occupied ( this
restaurant may look big from the outside, but there are not many tables inside).  Found
myself a table and without looking at the menu asked for unagi in teriyaki sauce with
rice (RM25) and a cup of hot green tea (RM2).

I recall what I  once read about unagi – that it is considered an expensive delicacy in Japan
and is typically eaten during the hottest part of summer to keep cool. Unagi is also said to be a healthy food as it provides us with lots of stamina (just what I need to take me through
this chaotic week!)

My unagi dish came within 10 minutes and here is what it looked like.

I would say the unagi (or freshwater eel) had been very well prepared. It was crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy inside. The sauce, however, was a tad  sweet. So I asked for wasabi to eat it with so as to reduce the sweetness of the sauce – with that I ate up everything, knowing that I have gained sufficient protein, vitamin A & E for the day!
