Sun Loong Kee Restaurant, Kg Subang

Locating this restaurant should not be a problem for those who are familiar with Subang New Village , you will easily find this along the same road as Econsave. For those who aren’t then I’ll say you need to travel all the way from the Subang Airport Road. Upon seeing the airport, turn left at the next junction. Follow the road until you come to a T-junction where you will make a left turn. Once again follow the road until you come to a fork. At the fork take the left and you will see Sun Loong Kee on your left.

There is ample parking here as the restaurant has its own parking lot. Just make sure you don’t knock into the altar which is placed on the floor.

Sun Loong Kee is divided into 2 dining sections – one is outside i.e alfresco and the other is air-conditioned. I chose the later because todays’ weather  has so far been very unpredictable – raining one minute and hot the next.

There were 5 of us and all of us ordered sea coconut (RM2.50 each). I noticed that their improvised version was fairly interesting as it had slices of lemon in it. I took a sip and loved it…it was not only cooling but refreshing as well.

We ordered 4 dishes for RM70 (this is only for the 4 dishes i.e excluding rice & drinks) – I would say it was reasonable. The first thing we ordered was cincalok seafood which was highly recommended by the lady boss. I can take cincalok, but am not too fond of it. But this dish was a great delight – it had petai in it along with generous amount of squid and prawns. The cincalok was not overpowering, hence we wiped clean the entire dish within minutes.

Next was salted kampong chicken – it was steamed with lots of salt and the texture was good! (P/S : If you can't finish this dish, take it back & make some porridge -heavenly!)

Stir fried yau mak –even before this dish arrived, we already knew it would be excellent, judging from the aroma of the garlic that we could all smell….taste –wise excellent, as expected.

Loong foong tofu – we were told that this is their specially made tofu, the secret of Sun Loong Kee’s great tasting tofu – i.e they are home-made by the owners themselves. I love the smooth texture of this tofu. The tofu was cooked with slices of Chinese mushroom and crab meat – very delicious!

At the end of the meal, I was told that they are also famous for their German pork knuckle…and I am thinking, YES, I’d love to come back and try that soon!!!

Thiam Fatt Restaurant, Pekan Subang

To get to Pekan Subang, all you need to do is to get to Subang Airport. From there, turn left at the next set of traffic lights. You will see Weststar Aviation on your left. Just follow the road and you will then see many restaurants. Take your pick!

We chose Thiam Fatt for 2 reasons –there were many people inside and there was ample parking. And…I must say we made the correct choice, and I’ve no regrets, whatsoever.

This is the frogs with salted eggs (RM24). Very unique dish – salty yet tender.

This is their signature dish – prawns (RM30). It tasted like Marmite with sugar and honey. A very yummy dish which left a lasting impression on my taste bud….loved every bite of the juicy prawns!

This is stir fried iceberg lettuce (RM8) – certainly had lots of wok hei and the vegetables were fried the way I liked it –the lettuce were still crunchy.

This is called yin yang bones (RM25)….actually there weren’t any bones served and I really enjoyed this dish. One side had sweet sour pork and the other had a mild spicy pork with mayonnaise. This is the first time I see such a combination and it was very tasty indeed.

My drink
Overall this restaurant is really good & I can't wait to come

back again!
