Full House, Sunway Pyramid

It has been a while since we set foot in Full House and for that very reason, we went there earlier today.
The place still looks spick and span, I noticed that their signature Mini car was a hit with the children who were flocking the place with their families.

We ordered a few dishes and what I like is that they serve drinks to children in paper cups, so it gives me peace of mind as I always get very worried when eateries serve drinks in tall glasses to children.

And if eating alone does not leave you satisfied and the shopaholic in you need to spend more money, there are clothes for sale too at the back portion of this café.

O'Viet -Sunway Pyramid

Vietnamese food is definitely that I seldom indulge in. After a few hours of walking (and shopping) at Sunway Pyramid, I decided that I could no longer walk and took a short rest near the skating rink area. I look up and spotted O’Viet.

So the 5 of us made our way to O’Viet to have a rest and rejuvenate..and obviously to eat, as well. We ordered lemon grass ginger tea (RM7.90) – I love the fragrance of lemon grass, which always reminds me of a spa. As I took sip after sip of this drink I couldn’t help but feel refreshed. All fresh juices here are served without sugar. The photo below also shows watermelon juice and mango juice. If you are wondering what the brown drink with tiny black strips are –that’s a drink called Michael J (RM5.90). I’ve decided to not spoil the fun by describing the taste of Michael J, but I’ll just say that I highly recommend it.

This is steamed wrapped roll (RM9.90). With bean sprouts on the side and fried onions on top, this was appetising.

Fried spring roll (RM8.90) was delicious as well.

Not bad, I thought, so far so good and I am really enjoying my Vietnamese meal. Next came the stuffed tomatoes (RM18.90) .  Frankly I had no idea what to expect when we ordered this. The outcome – exceptional. The sweetness of the tomatoes combined with the well marinated meat i.e the stuffing made this dish go very well with rice.

Beef salad (RM19.90) – this has to be my favourite salad from now on. I’ll pass on the Caesar salad…more beef salad please!!

Fish grilled with lemon grass and basil (RM23.90). The grilled fish was yummy on its own, but when dipped into the sauce provided tasted really superb. Love it!

Tamarind prawns  (RM28.90) – well, the name of this dish says it all – prawns cooked in tamarind sauce.  I must admit that I have a penchant for  food with a tinge of sourness and this really made my day.

Chicken soup with bean sprouts and basil (RM8.90). I love the spicy earthy note of basil which lends a sharp contrast to the taste of chicken. The end result – a bowl of ‘rat ngon’ soup….well, those are  the 2 words I learnt that day – meaning very delicious.

For dessert we had ice cream with fruits (RM9.90) and Viet cendol (RM8.90)

Fig & Olive, Sunway Pyramid

The restaurant looks quiet on a Sunday afternoon, probably due to the fasting month. With an ambience that somehow calls out to me, I walked in to this restaurant with no expectation, whatsoever.

The waitress looked as if she had just awaken  from her sleep and has not had any breakfast! What a put off. Anyway, she showed us to our table and gave us 4 menus…..yes, 4 menus for a total of 10 people. Of course, we requested for more menus and she obliged.

These are some of the drinks we had :-

Strawberry milk shake (RM7.90) . Topped with  whipped cream, I love the velvety, creamy concoction before me. The smell of strawberries hit my nose as I slowly slurp up my drink.

Monkey business (RM7.50) – monkey’s favourite fruits are bananas and this is what this drink is all about – banana smoothie!

Iced blackcurrant tea (RM4.90) – the colour just looked a little off to me.

Blue salmon salata (RM12.80 ) – this is actually smoked salmon salad. With a very generous serving of salmon and greens, I would highly recommend it.

Chicken BBQ pasta (RM19.90) – the pasta was only sufficient to feed a kid as the portion was quite small!

Chicken with olive rice – as this was my first time having olive rice, I noticed that basmathi  rice was used and the aromatic rice hit my taste bud, I felt a great sense of satisfaction. Love it!

Fish and chips (RM15.90)

Figo Fish Oglio (RM18.90)

Seafood carbonara pasta (RM19.90)

Fish melted cheese (RM19.80)

Garlic bread RM4.50

Mushroom soup RM4.90

Tripe scoop gelato (RM13.80) – this is our choice of mint, chocolate chip and vanilla…oops..no more vanilla left, that was what we were told. And so we had to settle for mango. The ice cream were on the verge of melting when it was served…and for this, I really need to deduct some points!

All in all, we all agreed that it was a memorable meal and that we will return someday to try out the kebab as well as the skewers

Paradise Inn Sunway Pyramid

One of the latest outlets to open in Sunway Pyramid (opened in Dec 2011)  is this beautifully renovated place called Paradise Inn…well, nothing like what I imagine paradise to be, but the ambience is certainly a factor which draws in the crowd.Anyway, cosmetics aside…The four of us went to explore and see (and taste, of course!) for ourselves what Paradise Inn had to offer.

We waited for some time to be seated.  Even before noon, we could see that many tables were already occupied. We were given the menu and as we looked through it did not know what to order….or  rather let me say we did not know what this restaurant was famous for.

So we signalled to the waiter and he was very eager to take our order…but hey, wait a second..we really didn’t know what to choose. We asked for his recommendation and was told that they do soup best. So after some deliberation, we settled for pig stomach & spare ribs with pepper.

We then asked him for other recommended food and could see that his patience was running low. He told us to have a look at the menu and went off….sigh! So the flipping of the pages began again. Finally we settled for some food & made our order.
This is jasmine tea  - served in a ‘golden’ tea pot it definitely looked impressive.
Lychee mojito tea with ice (RM8.80 )- a tad sweet for me

Lemon grass passionfruit tea (RM8.80) – refreshing!

This is the soup (RM33.90) we ordered. Not many pieces of pig stomach in it, but the soup was certainly tasty. I must however say that the black pepper was slightly over-powering.

This is pork belly which is eaten with lotus bun. A set costs RM4.80. Lots of fat and I personally prefer lean meat.

Coffee pork ribs (RM19.90) – deboned ribs cooked with coffee. It was bitter sweet and I quite liked it.
Salted eggs with prawns (RM29.90) – this dish had a unique flavour….juicy prawns were coated in salted eggs, making each bite pleasant. Would have been better if it had not been so soggy.

Sauteed Bean sprouts with salted fish (RM16) – taste was ok, but the portion was absolutely tiny!
