Soup Restaurant, Jaya Shopping Centre

With an impressive list of outlets located in Singapore, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, I had to try Soup. I just had to…you know that feeling of wanting to try a certain outlet is so great that I finally found myself driving there on a wet afternoon!

The first thing I ordered was a glass of homemade barley drink. Prices at RM4 , I definitely thought it was a rip-off.

We tried the traditional boiled soup (RM22.90), served in an earthen pot. The pot lent a nice, distinct taste to the soup and we all yearned for more.

Beggar bowl rice with chicken (RM9.90) -  served with some vegetables on the side, this was a complete meal buy itself. I love the ginger garninshing.

Beggar bowl rice with minced pork (RM9.90) – this was once again served in a ‘pot’ which kept its content warm all throughout.

Hometown tofu (RM14.90) – deep fried and garnished with spring onion and parsley, and served with some gravy, I don’t quite like the taste of it.

Ben & Nick Diner

A tiny, cosy diner run by a father and son is what Ben & Nick is. The minute I made my way in, I fell in love with the place which is nicely and thoughtfully done up.

Famed for its Cajun food, there’s no way I was going to miss ordering the good stuff.

Our drinks – Milo (RM4.90) , lemon tea (RM3.90) and lemon juice (RM3.90)

We ordered salad for starters and the damage was RM19.90. With shredded cheese and hard boiled eggs, this was absolutely a salad to die for!

Mushroom soup (RM7.90) – a little too diluted for my liking.

Garlic bread (RM5.90) – truly awesome as it had the right amount of garlickiness in it!

Cajun prawns (RM32.50) – very tasty and fresh prawns, served with some fries and  broccoli.
This is a must-have dish here.

This is combo blanket which resembles tortilla. One half was filled with chicken, the other beef.

Farm House, Kuantan

Being the adventurous person that I am, I decided to try out Farm House. The ambience is pleasant and I love the stark contrast it has from the sweltering heat outside.

This is watercress soup, painstakingly boiled in tiny crock pots lined up in a pretty row. As such the soup tasted wonderful  and the RM14.80 damage to our pockets justified.

This is tasty otak roll (RM8.80), which, well lived up to its name – tasty.

Fried squid (RM14.80)  -crunchy and yummy

Bentong  tofu (RM8.80) – well, I’ve always known that Bentong is famous for its ginger, but tofu???
Anyway, we tried this dish and the tofu was filled with meat. It was indeed startling!

Yam roll with duck (RM11.80) – this was one unique dish that everyone enjoyed .

Pork rib with bitter gourd (RM11.80) – steamed to a voluptuously tender texture, the  ribs were easy to eat.

Salted fish with kampong chicken (RM11.80) – the combo was simply out of this world!

Deep fried prawns in batter - not so healthy after all!

Pig trotter (RM16.80)

Restoran Sin Leong Huat

This is a simple Chinese restaurant which occupies three shop lots. One has no air-conditioning while the other two have. Service here was fast and we were satisfied with the quality of food served.

Marmite boxing chicken (RM12) – why this is called boxing chicken is that the chicken has been cut so that all the meat is accumulated at the top thus making it easier to eat.

Soup (RM7) – this bowl of soup contains salted vegetables, tofu, tomatoes, squid and not forgetting some ginger.

Our vegetable (RM10)  dish comprising lotus roots, broccoli, sweet peas and some carrots – very nicely done!

This tofu dish (RM8) – is a simple tofu dish with some very tasty gravy – the kids love this.

SF Seafood, Sungai Buloh

I was at the Sungai Buloh Chinese School for an event and decided to pop into the restaurant next door for some food before heading home. You many choose to dine alfresco or dine in the air-
conditioned section. I chose the latter as it was sweltering hot.

View of LF from Sungai Buloh School

We ordered this dish called the green dragon vegetable (RM8)  and salted vegetable soup (RM6).

This is salted eggs with pork (RM16) , a dish that is rather ‘new’ to me. I love the mild saltiness of the morsels of meat.

This is ikan jebong steamed with some ginger and lots of garlic (RM30) – the freshness of the fish made this dish simply heavenly.

Complimentary dessert -sliced watermelon
