Shakespeare Boulangerie & Patisserie

If you walk along SS15/7 you can’t help but be attracted to this all-white, immaculately clean eatery called Shakespeare.  The menu, in terms of main dishes, is not very extensive but the array of bread you can find at the bakery section will make you come back again and again, at least that is what has been happening to me.

The concept here if pretty simple – pick your bread from the bakery section and head to the cashier. At the same time, you can order your main dish and pay. Thereafter head to your table of choice and wait for food to be served. Alternatively you can help yourself to the free plain water (either cold or warm) placed on a table near the entrance – you can also get your cutlery from this table.

We ordered fresh carrot orange (RM8.50), a glass of cold peach juice (RM5.80) and a cup of hot honey lemon (RM4.80) .

This is plain margherita pizza (RM15.80) – just look at the fresh basil leaves – Love it!

Beef steak (RM19.80)  and whole leg chicken mushroom (RM19.80) – both are served with spaghetti. We ordered these as they were the  promotional items for dinner. I must admit that I’ve had the chicken mushroom for at least a dozen times – and that speaks volume for its taste, presentation and value for money.

These are pictures of other pizzas I’ve tried here and if you do get a chance, you should try the super yummy pizzas at Shakespeare. They are so good that they remind me of the pizzas served at Italian restaurants in London, which to me, is a hallmark of excellence.

A slice of cake  - I was pleasantly surprised when the waiter gave me this to try. Well, it must have been THAT obvious to him that I’ve frequented this place at least 5 times in the last   2 weeks! The cake was not only easy on the eyes but also the palate.

Papa’s Café, Tropicana City Mall

What drew me in to Papa’s Café was the spanking white walls which instantaneously gave me the impression of an impeccably  clean eatery.

Cincau ice (RM3.50) and barley. The barley drink came in a set together with the sang mee set priced at RM9.90.

Vanilla milk shake (RM7.90) and strawberry milk shake (RM7.90) – I would say Papa’s Café serves one of the better milk shakes. I can vouch for this as I am a HUGE fan of milkshakes!

This is the sang mee which I mentioned earlier. It comes with a generous amount of cabbage and fish cake. The springy noodles were yummy.

Nasi lemak ayam (RM9.90) – with the usual compliments of peanuts, cucumber slices, anchovies, sambal, hard boiled eggs and a chicken thigh, this nasi lemak was just alright.

Salmon steak (RM25.90) – I would call this a salmon steak with a difference. Served with fries, cucumber slices and some mushrooms and sweet peas, I found this rather interesting. The salmon was fully coated in sauce..and that would be my only complaint of this dish –would prefer if the gravy/sauce is served separately.

This is called papa’s kiddo (RM9.90) – a platter meant for kids. With the usual kiddie stuff such as sausage, fried eggs, sliced cucumber, hash brown and some fries, this dish made a good breakfast.
