KungFu Paradise, Paradigm Mall
With a
name that doesn’t appeal to me, walking
into KungFu Paradise was definitely a huge gamble. The simple menu
displayed at the exterior showed that it served what I call simple dishes.
| Refreshing drinks! |
My son was dying to try the seafood udon
(RM18.90) and insisted that we went in.
First came the ‘stove’ and then the huge ‘pot’ of udon which was filled
with awesomeness – al-dente udon served with eggs and some condiments.
Dry noodles(RM10.90)
- with 2 sausages, an egg and a stalk of
vegetable, this perfectly done noodles was yummy.
Japanese
curry (RM14.90) – I frankly think that this does not look like Japanese curry ,
at least the colour wasn’t right to me, but the thick curry was very delicious.
I also like the fact that they took the effort to put some black sesame as
toppings on the rice.
Seafood
tomato fried rice (RM13.90) – the rice was a little soggy, but the taste was
pretty alright.

Inaho Sushi, One City
One City prides itself as having the largest rooftop area attributed
to dining. In fact it is recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records as having the
Biggest Rooftop F&B area. With that knowledge, we decided to check out the
place. I must say that the ample parking at One City coupled with the fact that
parking is FOC is certainly a pull factor.
We chose to dine at Inaho Sushi as the prices looked pretty
decent. As we walked in at half past 6,
we were spoilt for choice as far as seating was concerned. We decided to sit
outside…and I’ll show you why.
From my table, I could see the Main Place (a condo just down the
road) and part of the highway. We could
also see the sun slowly going down the horizon. Oh, what a sight to behold!
We had some communication problems with the waiter as his English was
rather incomprehensible to me. Well, what we ended up to doing was pointing to
pictures in the menu.
Edamame (RM6) –loaded with healthy nutrients, these beans were very
well prepared – neither too salty nor tasteless.
Shoyu ikura sashimi (RM15) – slightly pricey, but as these were
yummy…I won’t complain.
Chahan (RM10) – Japanese style fried rice – well, the flavour and
aroma were just alright.
Garlic rice (RM7) – with a generous amount of garlic, this dish was
simply very, very garlicky, just the way I like it…AWESOME!
Niku udon (RM22) – this is
udon topped with beef. The smooth chewy
textured udon was extremely delicious as the broth which had a tinge of
sweetness in it complemented the udon very well.
Salmon don (RM33) – this
simply translates to salmon rice…..hmmm…and that was what this dish was all
about. When it was served, you couldn’t even find a grain of rice as they were
all covered with very thinly sliced salmon .
For the record, ocha here is RM3 per head.

Ippudo, Pavilion
When I walked into
Ippudo alone, I was greeted in Japanese and I find this rather annoying, not
because I don’t understand Japanese but because it somehow announces my arrival
and I can see many heads turning. In fact the staff here are trained to greet
everyone who comes in and also everyone who has finished eating & is about
to leave. I find this a little ‘noisy’.
I decided to give
the Ramen Combo set which was on promotion a try. For RM29.90++ I was given the
choice of 1 ramen + 1 side dish or dessert + 1 green tea.
I decided on the
shiromaru motoaji and a sake mentai rice. The waitress actually asked how I
wanted the noodles done – soft, normal or hard. I chose normal and what I got
was al dente noodles in broth. I love the ultra thin noodles which were smooth
and slippery.
This is the sake
mentai rice which is rice topped with grilled minced salmon and cod fish
roe. I love the fragrance of the rice
and found this side dish very appetising.
These promotional
sets are only available on weekdays from 11 am to 3 pm.

Fukuya, Jalan Delima
A beautiful mansion with decent
parking houses Fukuya. All you need to do is to leave your car with the jockey
(for FREE!!) and walk into Fukuya for an out-of- this-world dining experience.
You may dine in what I would call the common area or book a room for more
privacy. Alternatively if you were bold
(and extremely lucky)like me you could just walk in and try your luck at
getting a table or even a room! For the record, I got a room looking out into
the beautiful garden and I was told by the friendly waiter John that I was
indeed very lucky as it is normally full house here at Fukuya!
I tried the Fuku-Fuku Lunch which was priced at RM40++. It came with
appetiser, salad, chawan mushi, rice, miso soup, pickles and dessert. The
difficult part was to make 2 selections out of a list of 15 items – cod fish
teriyaki, fried scallop, cube cut beef steak, salmon steak with butter sauce,
grilled chicken with salt seasoning, tuna & salmon sashimi, salmon
sashimi, grilled saba mackerel, prawn
& fish tempura, fried white fish, chicken teriyaki, butter sautéed scallop,
beef teriyaki & grilled salmon with salt seasoning.
It took the glutton in me some time to make a decision as all of the 15 items appealed to me! I finally
chose the salmon sashimi and grilled saba mackerel. I must say that the way the
food was presented gave my eyes a visual feast and the extremely delicious and
satisfying food made me vow to come back soon!

Mr. Teppanyaki, Summit USJ
I remember the days
when Summit USJ was spanking new and Mr.
Teppanyaki was a very popular eatery. Many years have since gone by and today,
for old times sake, we decided to have a meal at Mr. Teppanyaki.
This is beef teppanyaki
set (RM14.90) –this bento comes with rice, cucumbers and 2 slices of
watermelon. I personally felt that the
morsels of meat were a little too
few and too tiny.

Sumo, MBK Shopping Centre ,Bangkok
MBK has been described as a legendary
shopping complex. Here you can find loads of stuff from clothes to accessories,
handbags, clothes and even furniture. It
takes hours to shop here as there are over 2,000 shops span over eight floors
for an endless shopping experience! When your feet get too tired, why not head
to the cinema located on the top floor!
Well, after hours of shopping we decided
to have an early dinner at Sumo. You can easily tell that this place serves a combo
of Japanese-Thai food.
The tom yam was very appetising –
sourish yet full of flavour, we ordered extra rice just to polish off all the
soup!
Stir fried kai lan – what I found
interesting was the pieces of mushrooms in this dish. Tastewise, it was alright.
This is another soupy dish with meat
slices and meat balls. I love the tasty broth and the tender meat.
Steamed fish – served in a fish-shaped
plate. The sourish sauce was very appealing and we all agreed that it was
simply awesome.
