Kampung Daun Culture Gallery & Cafe, Bandung

Kampung Daun Culture Gallery & Café (literally translated mean the Village of Leaves) is located in Bandung. Well, if you are thinking of the city area, then…..nope! You will need to hire a car to get here.

At this place, you will find tranquillity and peace. The serenity of the area simply makes me a haven for everyone. It is indeed very beautiful and it is here that  the hustle and bustle of polluted Bandung is eluded.

We were told that Kampung Daun is the brain child of a lady. She stumbled upon this area in her search for water. She found a waterfall here and was convinced that she could turn it into a special place. With all her hard-earned money and help from some others, she set up a food counter at the foot hill.

Soon the place was ‘expanded’. They put in grass huts with wooden floors…and they say the rest is history!

Today, I made my journey there after spending a few days of shopping in Bandung. What a welcome change! I loved every minute spent at Kampung Daun, hence this posting. (They even won the Tourim Award for 2010)

As you walk into Kampung Daun, there is a reception area where you will be given a hut number. You need to locate your hut based on this number…OMG! We were given a hut at the top….so we had to walk and climb many flights of stairs (ain’t complaining as the view got better as we ascended the stairs).

To get the attention of the waiter, you need to make some noise with the equipment found outside the hut (next to the hut number)

Here are some of the food we had.
