Cube Garden Café, S2

We left for S2 as soon as we crawled out of bed, hoping to get there in time for brunch. Lo and behold…..we were caught in the most massive jam I have ever encountered on the PLUS highway. It really did look like the entire highway was jam from Nilai to Seremban. Luckily our destination was S2 and not Seremban town itself!
We chanced upon this place called Cube Garden Café at close to 2pm. With growling stomachs, we decided to just give this place a try.

We ordered 3 lunch sets priced at RM7.90 each & another set valued at RM14.90 . The sets came with soup, drinks & ice cream  and the more expensive one even came with a couple of apple slices .

The RM14.90 dish

Fried kuay teow

Popcorn chicken

We also ordered a fruit salad for RM8.90. I love the colourful fruits as well as the fact that it was served with 4 pieces of leafy green vegetables. Indeed a very pleasant appetiser for the stomach as well as a pleasant feast for the eyes.

After devouring our food we were very hungry!) we had a look around the café and noted that each room had a different theme – from our olden English setting to simple bamboo wallpaper or a French theme ,as well as a scenic view of the ‘beach’ complete with a straw hat and bikini – you could choose a room which suit your taste.

I would definitely come here again when I visit S2 due to many reasons -  the food is good and price decent and ambience pleasing.

Aryan, Quality Hotel

Aryan is located along the main road of Jalan Raja Laut, fronting Pertama Complex.  We valet parked and was told that you do not leave the keys with valet as his job is only to ensure you get a parking right in front of the hotel!

It took us a while to realise that Aryan was open for business – the place was dark and the doors were locked. We pressed the bell and after a long pause, someone came to open the door for us. We then noticed that Aryan is locked at all times.

I would only like to highlight my favourite dish here which was tandoori chicken, served with lots of onions.  The chicken was so tender, it fell off the bone. The chicken was marinated with the right amount of yoghurt and herbs, not overpowering nor bland.

Service here is friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely be back.

Ippudo, Pavilion

When I walked into Ippudo alone, I was greeted in Japanese and I find this rather annoying, not because I don’t understand Japanese but because it somehow announces my arrival and I can see many heads turning. In fact the staff here are trained to greet everyone who comes in and also everyone who has finished eating & is about to leave. I find this a little ‘noisy’.

I decided to give the Ramen Combo set which was on promotion a try. For RM29.90++ I was given the choice of 1 ramen + 1 side dish or dessert + 1 green tea.

I decided on the shiromaru motoaji and a sake mentai rice. The waitress actually asked how I wanted the noodles done – soft, normal or hard. I chose normal and what I got was al dente noodles in broth. I love the ultra thin noodles which were smooth and slippery.

This is the sake mentai rice which is rice topped with grilled minced salmon and cod fish roe.  I love the fragrance of the rice and found this side dish very appetising.

These promotional sets are only available on weekdays from 11 am to 3 pm.

Little Pantry, IOI Mall

I was invited for a party at Little Pantry  a while ago.  You can feel that the place is shouting out to you ‘COME PARTY HERE’ even as you stand at the entrance which is decorated with balloons. Walk a few steps in and you will notice that the place is so sweet and lovely, with its walls and deco in white and pink, giving it a very girly effect- just the perfect setting for an all-gal party!

Children sets were prices at RM13.90 and this came with a main course + Ribena + free sand art. Wow! I could see many children busy at the sand art station, making their favourite cartoon characters  -Mickey, Minions, you name it……

Serving Western as well as Asian food, one would be spoilt for choice here and below are some of the food that we ate at the party:-

Upin & Ipin, Giant USJ

The entire restaurant is designed based on the truly Malaysian born cartoon series Upin dan Ipin,a pair of orphaned twins who live with their grandma. The television sets place in strategic locations within the restaurant play the Upin & Ipin series all day long. The outlet has also allocated a fair amount of space for the retail of merchandise ranging from toys to tumblers, food containers as well as T-shirts.

We ordered fresh orange  (RM5.90) and a bottled lychee and a bottled blackcurrant juice (RM3 each). I love the tangy refreshing orange juice and was glad to see that the bottled drinks are actually printed with the characters of the twins.

Nasi cencaru sumbat (RM9.90) – with its exquisite flavour, this dish was a combo of sweet and savoury which really tingled my taste bud.

Nasi goreng atok (RM8.90) – I would say the beautiful presentation resembles that of nasi goreng kampung- fried rice with an egg on top, decorated with sliced cucumber and tomatoes along with some fish crackers.

Spaghetti carbonara (RM12.90)-deliciously creamy!

Ayam goreng Upin & Ipin (RM3.80 ) – the fried chicken here is crunchy on the outside yet tasty and moist inside. Love it!

Although the outlet has the Mastercard sign, we were told that they only accept cash.
