Restoran Seri Pantai Jaya -revisited

I’m back once again and this time on invitation from a birthday girl. At 12 noon the place is already quite packed…and the first thing that caught my attention was this tea pot filled with Chinese tea. Wow! I hardly see this type of teapots nowadays!

This is pork trotter with man tou –I noticed that the man tou has been cut –hmmm….no wonder they look so tiny. But I must commend the chef on this dish. The pork trotter was superb – the sauce was just right – not too sweet, not too starchy. Perfecto!

Stir fried french beans with garlic – there’s nothing much to say about this dish, is there?

Lotus roots with Chinese mushroom, asparagus, carrots, anchovies and celery. I recall having this dish here last time and it had wolfberries in it. Today, the wolfberries were ‘missing’ (probably because they are now sold at higher prices elsewhere as the health food known as goji berry). This dish certainly had sufficient wok hei (charring from cooking over high heat).

Tofu with loofah and shredded ham. I like the smooth texture of this tofu and the slippery feel of the loofah.

Yee meen simmered with prawns, squid and some greens. This was flavourful and aromatic.

Ostrich meat stir fried with ginger and spring onion. The meat was well cooked. I was told that although ostrich meat is considered red meat,  it has low in fat and has virtually no cholesterol.
