Sin Golden Full Restaurant, Sekinchan

Famed for its large paddy fields which supply rice to all parts of Malaysia as well as its fresh seafood, Sekinchan is no stranger to the avid traveller. I went to Sekinchan recently to have a close up look at the paddy fields, climb its reknowned tree houses and……of course to have a decent meal.
If you are coming from Kuala Selangor, the paddy fields would be on your right whereas the popular tourist eateries (the Bagan area) would be on your left. We decided to forego eating at what I call the more ‘tourisy’ area and decided to eat somewhere near the paddy fields. I must say that even in the vicinity there are ample choices. We ended up at this place called Sin Golden Full Restaurant.

The waitress did not look like a local to me, but she spoke fluent Cantonese, Hakka and Mandarin. She recommended the house specialty which was tofu. The deep fried tofu (RM10) was crispy on the outside. You can eat it just like that on you can choose to enhance its taste by dipping it either in Thai chilli sauce or mayonnaise.
This looks like any other stir fried choy sum with garlic (RM8) but the taste was different. For a person who loves eating vegetables, I could immediately tell that these vegetables were organically grown, without any pesticides.
Steamed flower crab (RM32) – 3 big crabs steamed with eggs – despite being flower crabs which are generally less tasty and meaty, these  were without a doubt out of the ordinary. The  flesh was thick and firm. We all gave the double thumbs up for this dish!
This is steamed fish  (RM20). I’ve always believed that fresh fish should be cooked in the simplest way – steamed with a little ginger….this brought out the sweetness of the fish. Superb!
