Kedai Kopi dan Roti Sun Yuen Cheong 新源昌茶室, Raub

Famed for its home-made bread either toasted or steamed with some kaya and butter, this coffee shop along Jalan Tun Razak n Raub , Sun Yuen Cheong has stood the test of time. It is probably one of the oldest coffee shops in Raub.

And if you are wondering where the heck Raub is….hmm…let me just give you a brief introduction of Raub. Here it goes:-

Located in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, within the state of Pahang, Raub is an easy 1.5 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. Just 110 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, Raub flourished as a gold mining town. When you get on the Karak Highway, you will first pass by the ever famous Genting Highlands. Drive on and you will see a junction on your right leading to Bentong. Raub is the town immediately after Bentong.

Enough of geography – let’s get back to food. I was in Raub for a few hours and decided to make a pit stop to pack some bread and muffins. Surprise, surprise…the muffins were only 20 sen each.

I love the bread, which I ate with kaya bought from the same place. The bread was not only fresh but fluffy as well. I give it thumbs up for taste, aroma, appearance and texture. Truly excellent!

As for the muffins, there were simple, no frills ones. I love the soft and cake-like texture of it.
