Big C Food Court, Bangkok

Located on the second floor of Big C is this food court which I would refer to as the Big C Food Court. For the record, Big C is a hypermarket selling all sorts of stuff from groceries to clothes and even furniture.

To get food at this food court, you have to first obtain this card, which has to be prepaid using cash. It is better to ‘load’ the card with a higher credit as any unutilised balance will be refunded upon presentation of the card to the cashier.

This is fried noodles –Thai style. With some chillies placed at the side of the plate, this dish was aromatic – the noodles were fried with chives, prawns and some eggs as well as bean sprouts.

This is rice with minced meat fried with some long beans and greens. The portion was rather small, but well, it came with a fried egg…and all this costs less than RM8  - so no complaints.

Noodles with meat ball and meat slices – just look at the colour of the broth. This wholesome bowl of noodles were not only aromatic but superbly  delicious.

Thailand is always full of surprises and the Big C food court definitely was a gem. Look at what we found here – fish maw soup with what looks like instant noodles to me.  Fish maw to me is a delicacy, especially so here in Malaysia, but in Bangkok…you can practically find it anywhere…even in food courts! And hey, they are very reasonably priced too.

Sumo, MBK Shopping Centre ,Bangkok

MBK has been described as a legendary shopping complex. Here you can find loads of stuff from clothes to accessories, handbags, clothes and even  furniture. It takes hours to shop here as there are over 2,000 shops span over eight floors for an endless shopping experience! When your feet get too tired, why not head to the cinema located on the top floor!

Well, after hours of shopping we decided to have an early dinner at Sumo. You can easily tell that this place serves a combo of Japanese-Thai food.

The tom yam was very appetising – sourish yet full of flavour, we ordered extra rice just to polish off all the soup!

Stir fried kai lan – what I found interesting was the pieces of mushrooms in this dish. Tastewise, it was alright.

This is another soupy dish with meat slices and meat balls. I love the tasty broth and the tender meat.

Steamed fish – served in a fish-shaped plate. The sourish sauce was very appealing and we all agreed that it was simply awesome.

Black Canyon Coffee, Bangkok

I was told that Thailand is the birth land of this wonderful franchise which I have often frequented. This time around we tried a variety of dishes, but I must say that the presentation of the food needs a special mention. I love the green tea as well..and since I am in a rush now, I’ll just leave you to admire the pictures.

Mormar Cafe, Bangkok

Located in a more affluent neighbourhood, right across the Holy Redeemer Church, which have services in English, we were already well-prepared to pay exorbitant prices when we walked into Mormar Café.

The menu was rather limited and the portions small.

Good old Coke!

Rice served with a hole in the middle...looks like a rice doughnut!

Chicken wings -not bad!

Tom yam

Green curry

I would say I don’t mind paying when the quality of food and service are both excellent, but Mormar just did not meet my expectations.

Address : 48/10 Soi.Ruamrudee Ploenchit Rd.

Tesco On Nut Food Court, Bangkok

The first thing that came to my mind as I stepped into this food court is the fact that is was very clean and was some what not what I expected of a foodcourt.

For the record, plain drinking water can be obtained free of charge from the water dispenser located near the cashier counter at the far end of the food court (you won’t miss it as you walk towards the exit that leads to the On Nut Station)

You have to buy a card before ordering food from the many stalls found here as they only accept payment via the card below. Any unused balance will be refunded in full.

Not a single dish shown here cost more than RM7 and I would therefore say that the food here is not only inexpensive but delicious too.
