Tortilla, London

I would consider this a fast food chain. The concept here is simple - you choose your food, well, I would say the same way you do in Subway.

First, decide on what you want to eat. Then choose the fillings and finally the toppings.

Pork bowl - with pork and lots of shredded vegetables, this bowl of wholesome goodness was such a delight. I loved it!

I then had this wrap - with chicken. I opened the paper wrapping only to find another layer -this time foil

I opened up the foil hurriedly and this is what I saw.

One bite into the chicken wrap and ohhh....rice!

Warm & delicious - this was the perfect food on a freezing cold night like this!

Goodman's Field, London

This is one of many restaurants under Wetherspoon.  My friend and I decided to try the Sunday Roast which was priced at £7.75. This comes with a drink.

I had the roast half chicken. It was roasted on the bone and seasoned with cracked black pepper. I found the chicken slightly dry. Otherwise it tasted alright.

My friend had beef silverside. This was slowly roasted to develop flavour and tenderness.  I must say that the beef was a much better choice.

For those who want to linger on and kill some time, there are gaming machines that you where you can try your luck. Who knows, you may end up with a free meal after that!

La Roma Bella, London

A beautiful Italian restaurant located right across the road from the British Museum, La Roma Bella, was a true gem that I stumbled upon.

The servers are friendly. The minute I opened the door and stepped in I knew I would love this place –and I really did.

The restaurant is divided into 2 main sections. The cashier is located in the first portion of the restaurant. In the back portion where I chose to sit, tables were lined up in 2 neat rows.

I ordered a hot chocolate and was a little let down that the saucer had a chip. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying my super duper yummy hot chocolate which was silky smooth.

I ordered a breakfast set  -Full English breakfast – with hash brown, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, this was really awesome. And oh, how could I have forgotten the toast  which was made to perfection. I really enjoyed this platter a lot.

I also had a magherita pizza – this I would say has been the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. The thin crisp pizza was definitely top notch. Margheritas are supposed to be light pizza and this was in every way just that.

The Vault, London

The minute I set my eyes on The Vault nothing could stop me from going in. Pretty bar stools lined up in 2 neat rows was what I saw from the outside. The Christmas decoration was simple yet attractive.
I chose to sit next to the glass window where I could have a clear view of the Thames. We browsed through the menu for what seemed like eternity (for the waiter that is, as he was very eager to take our order!).

The sauces

Eventually we decided to have soup of the day (£4.50) and tuna rocket salad (£7.85) for starters. The soup was very yummy…and we were having a tough but fun time trying to guess what it was. Finally we gave up and asked the waited instead. And ta-da….we were told it was tomato soup!

The colourful tuna rocket salad was a feast not only for the eyes – it was very tasty and I really loved it.

Our main course – sirloin steak and fish and chips! The sirloin steak (£15.95) was not that huge in size, by my standards that is, but it was truly delectable. Not too tough nor too rare, I loved every bite of it.

Fish and chips (£10.95) – simply scrumptious!

Although food at the Vault is slightly pricey, I would say the premium price is justified.

EAT. , London

I only had time for a quick breakfast this morning and ran across to EAT. to grab some food.

A simple tuna salad was my choice for a healthy start to the day. This ripped me off £2.99. With romaine lettuce, onion rings, tomatoes, cucumber and eggs, it was indeed a light and refreshing breakfast.

I also ordered a small hot chocolate for £1.99. I love the fact that all hot drinks  come with a hot drink sleeve. The hot chocolate was thick and delicious. I was glad I did not order a large one as I was already full at this point.

Carrot mango lime juice (£1.99)  and strawberry, raspberry & blackberry smoothie (£1.99)   – these were drinks I bought & put in my fridge. I did consume them during the course of the day. I liked the former but the later was just too thick for my liking.

Deep Blue, London

Deep Blue is a family friendly café. The first thing I noticed was that the place was large and had lots of buggy parking space…having said that I think I should rephrase to say with many buggies parked when I was there.

The name says it all – Deep Blue – the lightings are so modern that it gave me the impression that I was in outer space. The older generation may not like this place because the lightings may be a distraction.

As a result of the lightings which I would describe as being not the best for dining, the quality of my photos were affected.

I like the container where all the sauces are arranged neatly. Even the cutlery are placed in a plain looking tin –this really worked for me.

I was surprised to see water served in this bottle – I just love the effect of it!

I had to part with £4.75 to try this soup of the day , served with 2 slices of bread. It was indeed a lovely bowl of soup and I loved it.

BBQ ribs with lots of chips (£9.50) – I was amazed. The meat literally fell off the bones without an ounce of effort on my part. To say that it was simply delicious would be a gross understatement.

This is mac & cheese (£4.95) which came with a free drink.

This is sausage and mash (£4.95) which also came with a free orange juice. The sausage was full of flavour and I loved it.

Caesar salad with added chicken (£9.50) – I would say the portion was huge and I enjoyed the fresh crisp lettuce very much.

McDonalds, Queensway

Breakfast time again..and this time I went to Queensway in search of a good McD’s breakfast. I ordered a blue berry muffin (£1.19) and a set meal of bacon + egg muffin with hot chocolate for £3.09.  The muffin was very rich –not to my liking, though. But the muffin was exceptionally delicious that I bought another one.

What I like about this McDonalds outlet was its cleanliness and rather upmarket look as compared to the ones we have locally. They also have a loyalty programme whereby you collect stickers from the drinks. Once you have 6 stickers, you get a free drink.
